ALTUS artist Denis Bouriakov has established himself as one of the worldwide leading flute soloists, he was a prized winner of numerous important competitions such as the ARD-Musikwettbewerb, Concours de flûte Jean-Pierre Rampal, Prager Frühling and the Kobe International Flute Competition. Currently he´s the solo flautist at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, called by Gustavo Dudamel. Before that he worked as solo flautist for the Metropolitan Opera in New York under James Levine.
Denis is an experienced educator aswelln and has hosted many flute masterclasses at Consevatories and Universities around the globe. With his phenomenal virtuosity and musicality Denis Bouriakov is searching for works outside the standard flute literature, which let the flute shine in a particular way. He´s especially interested in transcribing Violinconcertos and Sonatas and by that pushes the envelope of flute technique and artistry.
