Stephen Clark

Stephen was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1983 and began playing the flute when he was 14 years old. Just before graduating from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Stephen won both the 2nd prize in the Scottish Mozart Concerto Competition and 1st prize in the prestigious RSAMD Concerto Competition. He completed his studies at the Royal Northern College of Music where he received a Scholarship. He most recently has received tuition from Sir James Galway.

As a soloist, Stephen has performed throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Turkey, Israel, Finland, Canada, Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Croatia, Mexico, Chile, Egypt, Libya, Malta, Australia, UAE, South Africa, Indonesia, Brazil, Norway, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Slovenia and the U.S.A.  He is  a past recipient of the Musicians Benevolent Fund/Oxford Flute Bursary Award and has served as a performing artist on Lord Yehudi Menuhin’s Live Music Now Scheme.  In addition to his performing schedule, Stephen is in great demand as a teacher, workshop and masterclass leader and gives regular classes both in the UK and abroad.  

From 2009-2011 Stephen was the Artistic Director of the Birmingham Flute Orchestra and is now proud to be Honourary President of the Lisburn Flute Orchestra in Northern Ireland - the 1st cross community ensemble of its kind promoting  peace and the fight against sectarianism.  He is often invited to perform on some of the world's most luxurious cruise liners and has been a headline performer for Seabourn, Holland America Line, Silversea, Princess, Crystal, Azamara, P&O, Oceania, Cunard and Regent Seven Seas cruise lines.  Stephen has recorded for Classic FM, Amadeus, Linn Records and for the Naxos label and broadcast live on Northern Ireland’s 7FM and BBC Radio 3.

Late 2013 saw the release of Stephen's debut solo album "EXPLOSIVE". Stephen has appeared on screen as the flute player in both the BBC's period drama series "Desperate Romantics" and ITV's feature film "Miss Marple - The Secret of Chimneys". 

Stephen is an International Altus Artist and plays exclusively on Altus flutes.
