ALTUS flutes are built with real craftsmanship; the mechanics are truly excellent, and totally reliable. The tone is always beautiful, and there is a great scope for a wide range of dynamics and colours. The scale is also superb. I cannot recommend ALTUS Flutes too highly!

Many years ago I had the chance to own a fantastic Louis Lot. It was impossible to beat it‘s beauty of sound. I have been searching for a flute with this special sound. Today the market is full of superb flutes of various manufacturers. These are often instruments with excellent response, built with great ideas. You rarely find an instrument with real personality though, like a Lot for example. When I tried my first ALTUS I knew straight away that this is a flute with great personality. It possesses a fantastic intonation, a wonderful mechanism and a deep and noble sound with incredible capacity for modulation. It is not a flute for professional flautists, but an instrument for the real artist.

I am extremely proud to be the owner of one of the latest models of an Altus 18carat gold Flute. This instrument, model 7009, is as far as I know, one of three recently made as a trial project, has proven to be outstanding in so many ways. This flute produces a nobel and sonorous sound, and is extremely vibrant and responsive, producing excellent qualities of sound and perfect intonation over the whole register. The instrument has enormous scope, and produces an extremely wide range of colours and dynamics, so much so that one has to adapt accordingly. As an orchestral player I find it so easy to blend in with my colleagues in the wood wind section, and it is unbelievable how the sound projects in a large concert hall. As a recitalist, this flute offers all that a professional artist can wish for, making it so easy to perform perfect chamber music of the highest calibre. I thoroughly recommend this particular model to the artist who is seeking perfection in craftsmanship.

I love my ALTUS flute. It has a rich and vibrant sound, which not only gives a singing, well projected sound in a hall but also records very well. The tubes of the ALTUS are made with the same process as the tubes of the Louis Lot more than a century ago. This process causes the silver to have greater density than the silver in modern cold drawn tubes used by other makers. This extra density gives the tone of the flute resonance and depth. I recommend the ALTUS because I prefer the tone and intonation of this instrument to any other modern instrument.
