I always recommend ALTUS flutes to my students and to all musicians that are serious about buying a new flute. These terrific flutes, in a wide range of models, have all the qualities they need: beauty of sound, excellent intonation, and a solid mechanism.
Over the last twenty- five years, George Pope has forged an international reputation as a fine performing artist and teacher, particularly through his masterclasses. A graduate of Northwestern University and the University of Tulsa; his former studies were with such wonderful teachers as: Marion McNally, former Cleveland Orchestra Principal - Maurice Sharp, Walfrid Kujala of the Chicago Symphony, and former Pittsburg Symphony flutist - Bernard Goldberg; with additional studies with renowned teachers and performers - William Bennett and Geoffrey Gilbert. Presently George Pope is Professor of Flute at the University of Akron and teaches at the Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory in Ohio. He recently finished his long-standing association with the Akron Symphony Orchestra as its Principal Flute.
